Winter 2011 in Sunny SihanoukVille, Cambodia!

The adventure continues.  Winter has arrived, the temperatures are low (if 25 to 30 degrees Celsius is low for you), and the town is booming.

• Kamsab Beach Hotel - has just undergone renovation
• Mama Julie Restaurant - Wing from Les Feuilles has her own place in Pim's Plaza on Ocheteaul
• Map Assistance - a help you in a medical emergency place
• Moonlight Rock - on Otres Beach... Bungalows and a Rock Bar
• Moorea Beach Bungalows & Bar - Otres Beach
• No Surrender Bar and Tattoos - in Pim's Plaza
• Peak Hotel - on the top of Victory Hill overlooking the port has re-opened
• Rogue iPod - on Serendipity Beach road has just renovated
• Solo Style Tours - Tour around SihanoukVille and Cambodia in Russian Language
• Storage 4 U - A temporary storage place for luggage opened at Thida's Restaurant
• The Bar - a bar on Victory Hill called "The Bar"
• The Pier Bar - at the end of the Serendipity Beach Pier
• Threadlocks - Used closed and stuff by backpackers, for backpackers, on Serendipity Beach Road
• Victory Beach Hotel & A'Chaar Restaurant - on Victory Beach, of course.
• Whiskey Guesthouse, Bar & DVD Sales - on Victory Hill
• White Rabbit Family Restaurant - Victory Beach.  Vegetarian & Russian food.
• Wish You Were Here Bungalows - on Otres Beach.

Another Summer in SihanoukVille is coming to an end.

We're waiting for the rain to stop, (but it is good for writing blogs).  Should stop around the beginning of October.  But that hasn't stopped everyone getting ready for the Winter.....   The Best Time of Year in SihanoukVille!


Plenty of action going on here:

Pearl City Shopping Mall is getting ready to open, hopefully in early 2012.

The Bridge to Snake Island is finished, and the creation of Morakot Island begins.

• Healthy Tattoo - 'Cause we hate the unhealthy kind

Winter in SihanoukVille, Cambodia - 2011

Winter is over in SihanoukVille, but the party still seems to be on!
Winter (November to February) was cool, but cloudier than ever.
Ocheteaul and Serendipity Beaches and the Islands were quite busy this year, as was downtown and Victory Hill.

Several passenger cruise ships stopped at the Port for the day, as did many Naval ships, (sometimes for a week at at time).  Most recently, the U.S. aircraft carrier U.S.S. Essex was in town.

Several new businesses have opened in the last couple months, including:

Ten103 Treehouse Bay on Koh ta Kiev Island.

Serendipity Beach Resort at Serendiptiy Beach of course.

M'Pay Bay on Koh Rong Samloem Island

Holiday Palace Casino has a new location on Independence Beach

Cheers Cambodia - our first gay friendly / straight boutique hotel on CT Street

Rainbow Pride - an alternative bar for alternative people at the Golden Lions Plaza

Utopia has added a Box, an indoor disco, next to the pool

Sok San Bungalows on Koh Rong Island

Tree House Bungalows on Koh Rong Island

Angkor Dive Cambodia on Koh Rong Samloem Island

Lan Choul is our first car rental agency in town

Sankeor Boat Trips can be booked at Pineapple Cafe on Serendipity Beach

Lo Stuzzico Pizzeria is open on Victory Hill

Sap Bay Cafe & Gift Shop is open on Seredipity Beach Road.

Happy New Year, SihanoukVille 2011

SihanoukVille rang in 2011 in it's usual style.  The beaches and islands were completely filled!
Ocheteaul Beach, with it's new boardwalk was the main destination for most.  Over 1 million fireworks, several hours, well into the night.

Construction continues on many new places, and Independence Hotel and Sokha Resort have both opened up new sections around their hotels.
